Experiences in Marrakech and beyond
Some days begin with a walk into the medina. Others take you beyond the city, towards the mountains, valleys or Atlantic coast. However you choose to explore, our team can help you experience more of Marrakech and Morocco during your stay.
Discover Marrakech
Wander through the medina
Step into the winding streets of the medina and allow yourself time to explore. Browse the souks, meet local craftspeople and discover stalls filled with textiles, ceramics, spices and traditional Moroccan wares.
Visit Souk Semmarine, see the brightly coloured fabrics of the Dyers’ Souk and follow the aromas towards the spice stalls of Rahba Kedima. Continue towards Jemaa el Fna as the city changes from day to evening.
Gardens, art and architecture
Find a quieter side of Marrakech among its gardens, museums and historic buildings. Explore the paths and distinctive colours of Jardin Majorelle, visit the nearby Musée Yves Saint Laurent or step behind the walls of Le Jardin Secret.
Within the medina, the intricate courtyard of Ben Youssef Madrasa is well worth seeing. The Maison de la Photographie offers another view of Morocco through historic photography, with a rooftop terrace above the city.
Experience a traditional hammam
A Moroccan hammam offers a welcome pause after exploring the city. The traditional ritual usually combines steam, black soap and exfoliation, often followed by a massage. Ask our team for a local recommendation and book ahead where possible.
Learn to cook Moroccan food
A local cooking class is a wonderful way to understand Moroccan food beyond the restaurant table. Visit a market, learn about regional ingredients and prepare traditional dishes with guidance from a local cook.
Day trips from Riad Chameleon
Leave the city behind and discover another side of Morocco. Riad Chameleon can arrange excursions in comfortable, fully insured, air conditioned vehicles. Speak to our team about where you would like to go and we will help shape the day around you.
Essaouira
Spend the day beside the Atlantic in Essaouira, a historic walled town known for its harbour, sea air and relaxed pace. Wander through the medina, explore the ramparts and watch the fishing boats return to port.
The journey can also include a visit to an argan oil cooperative and, subject to availability, an optional camel ride along the beach.
Ourika Valley
Follow the road into the Atlas Mountains towards the Ourika Valley and the village of Setti Fatma. Stop beside the river, enjoy the mountain scenery and walk towards the waterfalls with a local guide.
The experience can also include a visit to a traditional Berber home or time relaxing beside the water.
Imlil and the High Atlas
Travel into the High Atlas Mountains to Imlil, a village surrounded by dramatic valleys and mountain paths. A local guide can lead you through neighbouring villages and introduce you to the landscape and communities of the region.
The route can also include a stop near Kasbah Tamadot, depending on your plans for the day.
Beautiful sunset at Essaouira port, featuring a historic stone wall and blue boat in tranquil waters.
